The Grand Total

So after a few weeks we have finally managed to total up our donations for One Skirt One Month. I am really pleased to announce that we managed to smash our £200 target and raised £387! Thank you to all who donated and to my friends and colleagues who suffered along with me. Penumbra is a really worthwhile charity and is a great support to our SBC students. It was a month of garment torture but I survived. As a bonus, I managed to never wear the skirt with the same thing twice, quite an achievement I think.

These are a few of my favourite outfits from the month. Thanks again everyone. Your support means a  lot. :)

Tomorrow.. and there will be one week left.

Each day I find myself a little more rushed in the morning as I struggle to find something new to wear with the skirt. Tomorrow marks the start of the FINAL week. Oh how I will never moan about having nothing to wear EVER again (that's a lie). However I do like to think this challenge has taught me to appreciate the great clothes I do have.

Day 19:

Keeping it relaxed and casual today. Peace necklace from Miss Selfridge.

Day 20:

Doing a double skirt! Nude pleated skirt from Urban Outfitters.

Day 20(Today!):

Trying to look slightly smart in my sheer blouse (New Look). Trainers are from PUMA for anyone who has been eyeing them up in recent photos.

I'm off out with the Uni girls tomorrow night which means glitter, glamour, more glitter, rum and glitter. I think I might take a pair of scissors to the skirt...

If you have any requests of what you would like to see me do with the skirt then
and comment below and I will see what I can do!

Still wearing the skirt.

Apologies for the lack of updates, last week was a busy week. As you can see I look pretty tired in all these end-of-day shots....

Days: 11, 12, and 13

Then it was off to jive Dancing on Day 14;

I nearly had everyone fooled in this outfit but I am definitely STILL wearing the skirt!

Day 15:

Off to Bier Halle for a catch up with my old flatmate.

Day 16 is currently MIA, much like my dignity. I spent Saturday night at Melting Pot's 12th Birthday and DJ Francois K brought the 'House' down.... (pun totally intended!)
I will post the snap when I get it.
Day 16:

Day 17:
Jumper / Duvet day. Nuff said.

Day 18:

Cleaning up the wee flat after the weekend. Hmm... starting to look a bit fed up.

Today is Day 19.. but I don't have a picture yet. I'll slot it in tomorrow.

Don't forget to donate! Click Here!

Day 4/5

Day 4:
It was back to work yesterday and I opted for a very sensible pencil skirt look with a split to the side. Slightly over compensating for my lack of clothing options by choosing bright red shoes.

Photo: Day 4: pencil skirt style with side split. #1skirt1month #todayimwearing

Between the two days I managed to wash and dry my skirt in record time. I don't have a tumble dryer so was counting on my radiators / hair dryer.

Day 5:

Looking cool an casual today with my trainers and sparkly, knitted top.

I am definitely running out of options. I caught myself day dreaming today about what I am going to wear on my night out on Saturday. Then I remembered... I'll be wearing this skirt.
Sad Face.

Day 3

Like I said, it's Day 3 and already, I am BORED.

I spent a good 45 minutes this morning fiddling and folding around and have managed to create myself some sort of dress. The skirt actually splits right up to my pants but I slipped on another jersey mini skirt underneath to create a layered effect.

It was a nice day today so I opted for my first bare legs of 2013, teamed with some cosy Fairisle  socks and a borrowed cardigan. My heeled trainers are from ASOS and are now in the sale, typical, so snap up a bargain! They are super comfy.

I ventured to the West End this afternoon to visit Glasgow's newest vintage shop.
I was in the market for a nice, kind-of-long, definitely cosy, mature-but-cool, wool (but doesn't have to be), parka / jacket / coat. You know the one I mean...
The thrift store had many an exciting bargain including outrageous 80's prom dresses and an entire rail of leather but sadly not my dream coat. I left empty handed.
The shop itself is a great concept and I can see myself frequenting it in the future, what I will say is watch out for broken zips / stains, these faults are only to be expected in vintage clothing but just make sure you are capable of fixing them before you rush to the till.

Hope everyone had a swell weekend. Anyone else been thrifty recently?

One Skirt, One Month

Yes, you heard me!
One Skirt.
One Month.

For the next 30 days I have accepted the challenge of wearing the same skirt (I am allowed to wash it) in as many different ways as I can manage.
Here is the item in Question:

DAY 1

DAY 2

One average, run-of-the-mill, black, split back, maxi skirt.

Many of my friends say they rarely see me in the same thing twice so lets just say by tomorrow, I will definitely be struggling...

Me and a handful of girls down at SBC are all jumping the fashion hurdles in order to raise money for PenumbraScotland's most innovative mental health charity, as part of our Well Being Month. I will be recording all my own fashion adventures on here.

Jive Baby on A Wednesday Night

Ladies and Gentlemen, last night, I went to my first Jive Dancing Class.

Let me take you back to a few weeks ago when for the millionth time I was discussing with my pal how great the two of us would be as Jive Dancing partners... and how fun it would be to do amazing dance moves on a night out and alienate everyone around us with our awesomeness...

So I started looking into it, and turns out Glasgow actually has a few jiving clubs around the city! On a friend's recommendation I chose a class at Glasgow's Grand Ole Opry just off Paisley Road West.

Upon entering the country western club I couldn't help but giggle at the quirky decor. The class was a steal at £3.50 for two hours of dancing. Having danced for most of my life I was able to pick up the 6-beat rhythm quite quickly but let me tell you, it's not easy! I was slightly embarrassed that the woman double my age dancing next to me wasn't breaking a sweat, while I tried to keep up. The 30 or so people who were there ranged in ages from 17 to 70 and everyone was up for a laugh. The instructors (A couple, who are BATD trained AND have been dancing together for 10 years) were great fun with a  full on Glasweigain sense of humor, they took extra care of us as it was our first time.I will certainly be going back next week - I give it 3 weeks before I'm being tossed around and throwing shapes like a pro! Perhaps that's a little bit optimistic...

If you fancy yourself jiving around I recommend you get yourself the following:

A sensible pair of shoes for dancing.
Schuh - £50

If Converse were good enough in the 50's... they're good enough now!

A pair of knickers to protect your modesty...

Topshop - £22

And of course! A fantastic dress that channels that Rock n' Roll vibe

ASOS - £68

I'll report back when I'm awesome at this! ;)

I have friends in high places

So it was my Birthday a few weeks ago.. I hosted a 'Mad Catters' Tea Party' where I served cocktails out of charity shop tea pots, finally wore my cat ears out the flat and generally got good and merry!

I treated myself to two things on my Birthday:

Topshop Dress-Up Dress : Sold out

I wore the GAs out to the dancing for the first time and may I say - it was like dancing on fluffy clouds all night! They are quite possibly the comfiest shoes I have ever partied in. My high-heels are getting the boot (lol). OK, too far - I still love my heels but these trainers are quickly becoming my favorite choice for a night out. Teaming them with this dress gave me a girly but cool look.

Dancing the night away in the Sub Club with all my feline friends in a white puffy dress did turn some heads. My almost top part of the night had to be when I was asked the question;

"Are you having your hen night... in the subby!?"

But really my night was complete when, during my favorite future disco tune, I was hoisted into the air and thrown about like the barbie doll I was trying to dress as. I love my pals <3

After all this madness, I came home to a very beautiful package from my long lost Laura:

It pays to have friends in high places :)

Remember that time I had a blog!?

Aye! Sorry pals! Been a bit out of the blogging ways recently. Mainly due to my new full time job as Vice-President! It's all down hill from here...

Well a wee catch up for you all, the past couple of months I have been:

1. Spending all my money in Zara - The summer sales have been a little disappointing this year but trusty Zara has been dishing out the good stuff as ever! 3 new skirts have seen me through this Summer (a term I'm using loosely).

2. Chillan in Portugal! I spent a luxurious night in Lisbon in the beautiful Corinthia Hotel before shooting up the North Coast with my four favorite girls for some reading by the sea.

Guess what chic chika works at Agent Provocateur....
My dress was ASOS
Flump coloured Shorts and Lacy Top - H&M
Bikini Top - French Connection
Skirt - Zara
Sunglasses - Ray-Ban

3. Going on a few nights out...

4. And then there was the dancing show!

I'm now living in the lovely Dennistoun with my amazing best pal Bob. Pretty much loving life.
This weekend we are off to Horse Meat Disco in Glasgow's Berkley Suite. It is sure to be a show stopper of a night, I promise to give you all an update! ;)
