Rhyming Time!

Ok, so my last exam finished exactly 8 hours, 2 minutes ago. After about 15 minutes of enjoying doing nothing I got bored and my mind wandered to other things. Mainly, now that I don't have books for a distraction, my Beau and how much I miss him.

So Stewart McCall... I wrote you a little poem!

Hope it makes you laugh! Or at least smile.
Hope everyone else enjoys it too!

Who would like some candy!?

Yes I am in the middle of exams but sometimes you just have to blow off some steam. Following my Strategic Management exam on Thursday, my pal's Christmas Party was the perfect opportunity.

Now let me remind you that I live in a small town saturated with extremely creative individuals, when there is a dress up theme implied, expect the worst. Most people at a 'Christmas Party' would wear a festive jumper, or perhaps a Santa hat.. there is always one CRAZY person who wears a sexy Santa dress. Not me no.. what do I go as??
A Candy Cane.

Now I know it is no Katy Perry...

But for a last minute costume, I would say I look pretty good!
(I did win a prize after all.)

To achieve this look I simply piled my hair up into a Hollywood roll / bun and sprayed red and white hairspray stripes all over. I then painted part of my face white and added red stripes with lipstick. Tights and dress are self explanatory. If you are planning to copy this look I recommend you buy red eye shadow... two days later and I am still sporting faint red lines.. you have been warned!

Now if this picture doesn't say Christmas, I don't know what does!

Other guests included; The Snow Queen, A Christmas tree, A Christmas Pudding and a Scarf. (My personal favourite and fellow prize winner!)

Can't wait to get my full festive swing on! Hope everyone else is getting excited!

Sorry!

Apologies for the lack of updates. I have been rather busy of late! What with the impending doom of 4th year examinations.

OH, and my estranged boyfriend FINALLY got a flight to Glasgow. So last Friday I had the delight of a full Turkey dinner followed by some dancing at Glasgow's Nice n' Sleazys. Odd combo I know but my poor boy will not be home for Christmas and I just can't seem to get enough of 70's disco nowadays!

Also means I had a 7star snooze in the Glasgow Marriott Hotel. Thank you Emirates - CHA CHING!
However the pain of having to leave him the next day plunged me back into reality. Boooo.

Here's us! A perfect picture of happiness.

Shirt - New Look. Bow - My own. His shirt - Superdry.
Lipstick - Mac.

I promise for more updates when these bad-boys are all done and dusted. Can't wait to get my jingle bells on!

A Beautiful Day

Well I don't know about the rest of the UK but today was a beautiful winter's day here in Galashiels. For those of you who are scratching your heads thinking Gala-where?! Here it is.

Home of Heriot Watt University's School of Textile and Design I have been living in this rural town, part time, for 4 years now. It leaves a lot to be desired and lacks basic human rights such as H&M, Costa Coffee and Kurt Geiger. However it makes up for it in bakeries, bargain stores, super markets and on a day like this, beautiful scenery.

Today I opted to take my bike to uni to make good of the crisp, cool day. Que an opportunity to channel my biker chick personality and don my pleather leggings.

Shirt - Primark £1.50 (Guilty!)  |  T-Shirt - Topshop £15  |  Leggings - H&M £7.99  |  Hat - New Look £8.99   |   Necklace - Orro Price on Request.

Pity it was a pedal bike, not a motor.
This is my friend Coryn, up the back of my flat on a beautiful September Sunday.

Take that city goers! Jealous!?

I Love Scotland!

I don't often find myself feeling patriotic but something about this time of year reminds me of why I love living topside of the UK.

It's not just the clean, crisp November frost and the fact that I get to wrap up in as much of this season's knitwear as humanly possible.

Only in Scotland can you spend two days solid partying after attending Optimo's Annual Espookio at SubClub as 'That creepy girl from the ring' and in the same seven days find yourself at the centre of a 'strip the willow' at a countryside Ceilidh. There is a reason why bands, singers and DJs say that their Scottish gigs have the best crowds and why one of the biggest music festivals is hosted in our quiet Scottish countryside.

We know how to party!

And while animals hibernate as the days shorten and the nights grow longer. Scotland's party animals come out of their summer slumber and traipse the streets of Glasgow in search of fun and merriment.

So I have come up with a Top Ten Guide of rules to go by when celebrating in Scotland.

1. Line your stomach. We are the binge drinking capital of the world.

2. Pack flats. You never know how long / enthusiastically you will need to dance!

3. Understand that 'Aye Right' means the opposite of yes.

4. It is quite possible when slurring his words you will not understand a word a drunk Scotsman says. Smile and Nod. If needed edge away or wave at an imaginary friend and run.

5. Hide a cheeky tenner in your bag / bra that way when its time to go home you have taxi fare and probably enough for chips and cheese, a Scottish delicacy.

6. If you want to blend in, make sure you turn your fake tan up from natural to Wotsit.

7. The Disco Nap is your friend. Like a Duracell bunny, a 40 minute power-up can help you go all night - and morning!

8. Make a 'Pal'. Some of my best nights have been when a friend of a friend has scored me a Q jump or whispered to me about an after party.

9. Use the Buddy System. I LOVE to mingle and people are always very friendly but always make sure someone knows you are home safe.

And finally...

10. Enjoy yourself and make sure you get up to plenty of mischief!

Who else has experienced Glasgow's Night Life!? Where do you love to go?

Glasgow has plenty of bars and clubs to offer. My personal favourites are :

The Arches
Sub Club
Nice'N'Sleazy
Chambre 69
and The ABC

Hello!

As part of a personal social experiment, I recently had a good friend of mine lock me out of facebook. The idea was that I would use my regained time to work on my all important, Honnors Degree in Textile and Fashion Design Management. However I have found myself searching for other ways to fill my time and brag to the world how interesting (or not) my life is.

And so Lip-Zip is born. Stemmed from my love of lipsticks and zips, yes, its that simple! Over the years, mainly through my choice of tattoos and accessories the two have become somewhat my unofficial logos. Representing my outstanding personal qualities; Bright, beautiful, full of life and... functional?! OK so the zip was an earring bought for me by one of my good friends but it has been dangling from my ear for all of two years now and it is always a great conversation piece.

Anyway, here's me:

KIDDEN ON! That is obviously a rubber duck wearing an afro. Don't worry, there are many more duck photos to come.

This is me:

More updates to come!
